new media + sound + performance artist
&noise enthusiast
miranda firmston is an interdisciplinary media artist working with sound, performance, and interactive systems. Their practice explores sound as a prosthetic extension of the body, using custom interfaces and responsive systems that shape evolving sonic behaviours from physical data generated through touch, movement, and gesture. Their work emphasizes a tactile, textile, and wearable presence in digital and sonic environments, grounding abstract data in visceral engagement.
Based in Vancouver, BC, on the unceded lands of the Coast Salish peoples, firmston is currently pursuing an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts at the SFU School for Contemporary Arts. They hold a BMA in New Media + Sound Art from Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
